A Soggy Weekend
We successfully finished the Laumeier show. What could have been a beautiful venue for a show was one muddy, mucky mess. Incredible rains Thursday night and Friday morning left the Laumeier Sculpture Garden a rutted muddy, grotesque place. My booth happened to be in a low spot and water drained through the booth the entire weekend--a bit of an exaggeration but not by much. The show provided a limited amount of straw but by Sunday it was decaying and the stench practically unbearable. Crowds were thin Friday night and Saturday but Sunday (mothers day) people came out in droves. It is definitely a show I'd conisder doing agin but not unless I could get a spot under the big top tent, which is on higher ground and didn't get nearly as muddy. I wonder why the show doesn't take more advantage of the paved parking areas. By the way, my footwear of choice was a newly acquired pair of Target wellies!

Wow! The perils of outdoor shows.
ReplyDeleteSeems like the rain is just following me around this year!
ReplyDeleteI wish I would have gotten your postcard sooner telling me you would be here! I didn't get it until it was too late - which alas, can be a good thing (double edge sword) as I know I would have bought another of your pieces (I currently own two) and doing so would have sent my husband into a murderous rage! He doesn't understand spending money on art!!! I hope you will be in town for the Clayton Art Fair this fall - I can make it year three if you come back and this year purchase a bigger piece for my soon-to-be new house!
